“ Daikokuya has been my spot since college. Back then, it was my go-to hangover cure--a bowl of heavy, rich ramen paired with a solid Japanese rice don. The kind of meal that brings you back to life. The moment you step inside, the aroma hits you. Deep, intense, unmistakable. The flavors lean heavy, the portions are generous, but the quality never slips. I've seen them expand across L.A., but they've managed to hold on to their culture and service. It still feels like the same place I knew years ago. I prefer a ramen house that stays true to its Japanese roots, not one that bends too much to American tastes. Daikokuya gets that. And that's why I keep coming back. ”
“ I got the combination ramen with pork belly rice. It was ok. I liked the pork belly rice more. ”
“ I have been coming here for awhile. Finally I need to leave a reviews! Over the past 10 years coming here the food has ALWAYS been consistent. I ha e never had a complaint about my meal whether it be lunch or dinner. I tend to dine alone here, so I usually don't have to wait as I just grab an open chair at the ramen bar. The staff is always attentive and pretty on top of making sure every guest can enjoy their ramen. They happen to have the perfect volume to their music so I don't have to over hear conversation and just enjoy my food. Thank you Daikokuya for always feeding me and making my visits pleasant! ”
“ The portions are decent, the ambience makes you feel like you're in an outdoor Japanese restaurant. A combo set is usually what I tend to get that consist of any of the Ramen soups plus the pork cutlet. The service is great and even though it's tight and cozy, you feel right at home with the food. Parking is available within the plaza in front of the restaurant, and although there seems to be a line for seating you usually get seated within 30 mins. ”
“ Wanted a quick fix for dinner in the area and we landed at Daikokuya. This place is a cozy, no frills type of place. Despite it being small inside, I felt pretty comfortable in the restaurant! It's great for hangouts or solo meals. Ramen was good, serving size was absolutely huge and the boiled egg is done just right. Takoyaki was delicious too, didn't get to try the rice as the ramen was very filling but the combinations seem like a great deal! Service was quick, easy, and friendly! They do not take Apple Pay for those that use it! Parking is I think underground? So there should be plenty as it's an empty plaza ”
“ I have always gone to the little Tokyo one but this one is way closer to me and after a nice massage from Garfield Spa (check other review, amazing place) I decided to try this location. It's also pretty small and the wait was very long but again it's a very popular place so make sure to not come starving! The service was great and the ramen never disappoints. I usually will get more appetizers because they never let you down! ”
“ Solid OG ramen spot Monterey Park. My co-worker and I were looking for a quick ramen fix during our lunch break and we landed on Daikokuya. The shop itself is small in a no fuss or frills kind of way, and their menu is fairly standard. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, extra spicy. The noodles were cooked perfectly while the broth was rich and flavorful, and really packed a punch. All in all, Daikokuya is a good choice if you're in the area and looking for authentic ramen. ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. Average. Might return if others drag me. 4 Stars: Yum! Likely to return. 5 Stars: Amazing! Would plan my day around it. ”
“ *Review is based on pickup via order from food app* Upon arrival, there was still plenty of parking at around 5:30 pm on a weekday. After heading inside, I asked the staff about the order and they advised they would need a few more minutes. After 2-3 minutes, I got my order. Service was friendly and straightforward. I ordered a Spicy Miso Ramen. The containers they used for the broth was great, as it retain the heat well. The broth was decently spicy and salty. Along with the noodles, there was also chashu, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, boiled egg, and green onions. The chashu was good and tender. I did wish they had a bit chashu and bamboo shoots given the price. ”
“ This was my first ramen I got after coming back from Japan. And even though nothing compares to ramen in Japan, this place was pretty damn good. Food: 5/5 I got the daikokuya ramen. The broth was rich and savory. The noodles had a great chewy consistency. Everything blended together really well with the bean spouts and bamboo shoot. Price: 3/5 This place is kind of expensive. Like I said, I just came back from Japan where ramen were like $7, so this being more than double the price was not favorable. That's no fault of this restaurant but I think for $17 a bowl, there are much better places in Little Tokyo or San Gabriel Valley. Service: 5/5 The service was great. It is a smaller shop so they don't have many seats. I came at a fortunate time where there was no wait. The food came out pretty quick and the servers were sweet. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is small and had bar style seating. Reminded me of Japan. The plaza is pretty dead so there's a bunch of parking. ”
“ We usually go to the location in Little Tokyo but in the area so we wanted to try it. We just missed the "Monterey Park Lunch Specials" by 10 minutes, ends at 3 pm. But...the bento box options look really good! As you can see we got two ramen sets with fried rice on one and pork tonkatsu on the other. Consistency is the key to any good restaurant and it's hard when you have multiple locations. I will say that everything was good, but I think the pork tonkatsu was a little old and wasn't freshly made. The meat was very dry and that was a big sign. Other than that, everything else was great. I think Daikokuya, in Little Tokyo, is probably Top 5 in the LA area, mainly because of their extra fatty broth! Ambiance 10/10 Service 10/10 Cleanliness 9/10 Bathroom 9/10 Food 8.5/10 Value 9/10 Will I Return? Yes, for the lunch specials! ”
